NFP People is recruiting on behalf of a specialist organisation supporting women involved in sex work and those at risk of exploitation.
We are looking for a compassionate, proactive and non-judgemental Drop-in and Outreach Worker to provide frontline support through drop-in and outreach services across Nottingham and surrounding areas.
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of women who may experience multiple disadvantage, trauma, stigma and barriers to accessing mainstream services.
About the role
As a Drop-in and Outreach Worker, you will build trusting relationships with people accessing services and provide practical, emotional and trauma-informed support.
You will work across both drop-in and community settings, helping people to stay safe, access appropriate services, reduce harm and improve their wellbeing.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering safe, welcoming and inclusive drop-in services, including practical and one-to-one support.
- Providing information, advocacy, signposting and referrals to appropriate services.
- Delivering on-street and off-street outreach, including evening outreach, to engage people who may not otherwise access support.
- Providing harm minimisation, sexual health and wellbeing resources and practical support.
- Supporting specialist clinics, empowerment activities, wellbeing sessions and workshops.
- Working with people experiencing multiple disadvantage and responding appropriately to immediate needs.
- Identifying safeguarding concerns and undertaking dynamic risk assessments in line with organisational procedures.
- Developing positive relationships with statutory, voluntary and community organisations.
- Maintaining accurate case records, monitoring information and service user data.
- Working flexibly to reach marginalised and hard-to-reach communities.
About you
We are looking for someone with experience of providing frontline support to vulnerable or marginalised people. Experience of community-based or outreach work, harm reduction, assessments, practical support and referrals would be particularly valuable.
You will have:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build trusting relationships with people experiencing multiple disadvantage.
- A respectful, inclusive and non-judgemental approach.
- Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgement when dealing with complex and sensitive situations.
- An understanding of safeguarding and risk management.
- The ability to work collaboratively with partner organisations and colleagues.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Competence using Microsoft Office and electronic case management or client database systems.
Experience of working within the sex work sector, facilitating group or wellbeing activities, supporting volunteers, or working with statutory and voluntary organisations would be desirable, but is not essential.
What’s on offer
- 25 days’ annual leave plus English bank/public holidays, pro rata.
- Employer pension contribution.
- Flexible working where operationally appropriate.
- Employee Assistance Programme.
- Ongoing learning and professional development.
- A supportive and inclusive working environment.
- Travel expenses for work-related travel.
You will also need a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, or the ability to travel independently throughout Nottinghamshire, and be able to work flexibly, including evening outreach. The role is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure – Adults Workforce.
It is an occupational requirement that applications are open to women only, as permitted under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.
