Marketing & Communications Officer

Part-time | 20 hours per week | South Kensington (office-based)

Salary: £45,000–£48,000 FTE (pro rata)
Contract: 12-month fixed term, with the possibility of becoming permanent
Start date: ASAP

The organisation is looking for a creative, enthusiastic and organised individual who can help raise awareness of its work, engage supporters and bring its mission to life through engaging marketing and communications.

Whether you already have experience in marketing and communications or are looking to further develop your skills within the charity sector, this could be a brilliant opportunity to make a real difference.

The opportunity

As Marketing & Communications Officer, you'll take the lead on the organisation's marketing, communications and digital engagement activity.

You'll be responsible for creating engaging content, managing social media channels, producing newsletters and website content, and helping to ensure the organisation's messaging and brand remain consistent across all platforms.

You'll also work closely with colleagues, particularly the Relationship Fundraiser, to support fundraising campaigns, share supporter stories and strengthen relationships with the charity's wider community.

This is a varied, hands-on role where creativity, initiative and the ability to get stuck in will be key.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging content across social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.
  • Create and schedule social media posts, videos, graphics and supporter stories.
  • Maintain brand consistency and ensure a consistent tone of voice across all communications.
  • Produce newsletters, email updates and website content.
  • Support campaigns designed to raise awareness of the charity's work and the condition it supports.
  • Manage and maintain the organisation's webapp.
  • Monitor social media channels and respond to comments and messages professionally.
  • Monitor engagement and digital activity, producing reports for the Chief Executive.
  • Support digital fundraising campaigns through compelling content and storytelling.
  • Interview supporters, volunteers and clinicians to develop stories and case studies.
  • Edit and upload videos, graphics and other digital materials.
  • Work closely with the Relationship Fundraiser to support fundraising campaigns, events and supporter communications.
  • Provide occasional office cover during staff holidays or busy periods.

About you

We're looking for someone who is creative, proactive and passionate about producing engaging communications.

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience creating and publishing content across social media and digital platforms.
  • Strong written communication skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • A creative approach to content creation and storytelling.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to take ownership of your workload.
  • A flexible, adaptable and hands-on approach.
  • A friendly and professional manner when communicating with supporters and external stakeholders.

Experience with graphic design, video editing or digital campaigns would be advantageous, as would previous experience within a charity or not-for-profit organisation.

Most importantly, you'll be enthusiastic, willing to get involved and comfortable working as part of a small, collaborative team.

What's on offer?

This is a lovely opportunity to join a genuinely friendly, small charity where people work collaboratively and everyone is valued.

  • Flexible working hours: The organisation is very accommodating and understands the importance of flexibility around working arrangements.
  • Supportive environment: A welcoming, down-to-earth team.
  • Creative freedom: The opportunity to bring ideas to the table and help shape the organisation's marketing and communications.
  • Training and development: The organisation is keen to support individuals in developing their skills.
  • Varied role: The opportunity to take ownership of different marketing and communications activities and make a real impact.
  • Part-time hours: 20 hours per week, with flexibility around how these are arranged.
  • Annual leave: 25 days plus bank holidays (pro rata).

Please note this is an office-based role in South Kensington, with some travel within the UK and occasional evening or weekend work.

Accessibility note: The organisation's offices are based in the crypt of a listed building in South Kensington. Please be aware that there is no lift access and entry to the offices involves climbing one flight of external concrete stairs.

If you're a creative communicator who enjoys producing engaging content, sharing stories and helping an organisation connect with its audience, we'd love to hear from you.

To apply, please send your CV and a covering letter outlining your relevant experience and why you're interested in the opportunity.

Interviews will be held on a rolling basis, so we encourage interested candidates to apply as soon as possible to avoid missing out on this opportunity.
