About the role

Help create a welcoming space where young people feel supported, discover new interests and build confidence.

Working within a collaborative delivery team at a purpose-built youth centre, you will lead high-quality youth work, support colleagues and help deliver an engaging programme seven days a week.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering inclusive activities that help young people participate, progress and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Acting as Session Lead or Duty Manager, ensuring sessions run smoothly and safely.

  • Building trusted relationships with young people, parents, carers and partner agencies.
  • Responding to safeguarding concerns and supporting positive behaviour through restorative approaches.
  • Recording outcomes, gathering feedback and using evidence to improve programmes.
  • Supporting outreach in schools and community settings to encourage more young people to get involved.

You will also take responsibility for specialist areas of delivery, shaped by organisational priorities, young people’s needs and your strengths and interests.

About you

You will bring substantial youth work experience and a strong track record of leading activities, managing projects and supporting staff and volunteers. You will have worked in a school environment and/or done outreach work previously.

You will also have:

  • Experience of managing budgets and delivering results through a team.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building and organisational skills.
  • The ability to connect with young people from different backgrounds.
  • A calm, flexible approach and the confidence to lead while working collaboratively.
  • A non-judgemental attitude and a commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and young people’s development.

A professional youth work qualification or Level 2 certificate is desirable. First aid and mental health first aid training will be provided if you do not already hold the relevant certificates.
