You’re an experienced, empathetic and resilient Support Worker, deeply committed to assisting people with additional needs who can present challenging behaviour. You’re compassionate, observant, patient and confident in handling potentially difficult situations. You are skilled in monitoring changes in mood and developing techniques to calm and de-escalate. Ideally you will have knowledge and experience of complex needs including autism, learning disabilities and mental health support. You’re able to communicate clearly and sensitively with vulnerable people and their families, and always adopt a person-centred approach.
You enjoy helping individuals to be independent through companionship, providing reassurance and enabling confidence. You take pride in doing a great job and are happy assisting with cooking, domestic duties, personal care, attending appointments and social activities. You’re keen to develop your career through training, learning and gaining relevant qualifications.
As a member of our Specialist Care Support Team, you will be passionate about making a difference to an individual’s life. The purpose of the role is to support our customers to achieve life goals and aspirations through social, emotional, physical and cultural requirements in a person centred way, as outlined in the customers individualised care plan, in a manner that is professional, positive and upholds the values of the SCiA Group.
Your primary purpose will be to support this individual to live a meaningful, happy life. You will empower him to identify his goals, pursue hobbies, support his health and wellbeing, and be a part of the local community. He loves cooking, baking and art, watching films and gaming on his computer, therefore an interest in these would be advantageous. He is also very close to his family and enjoys attending events with them. Most recently, he has gotten a dog so candidates need to be comfortable working in an environment where a dog is present.
