Triage Worker
Salary: £26,800 FTE (pro rata for 15 hours per week)
Hours: 15 hours per week, flexible working pattern
Location: Home-based, with travel to King's Lynn or Norwich approximately once per month
Contract: Permanent
Do you have experience supporting vulnerable people and a passion for empowering women affected by domestic abuse?
We are recruiting for a Triage Worker on behalf of a specialist charity supporting women and children impacted by current or historic domestic abuse. This is an opportunity to join a dedicated team delivering vital frontline support and ensuring individuals receive the help they need at the earliest opportunity.
The RoleAs a Triage Worker, you will provide a confidential and compassionate service to individuals awaiting support. You will carry out risk assessments, offer emotional support, complete safety planning and signpost clients to appropriate services.
You will manage waiting lists, process referrals, maintain accurate records and work closely with partner agencies to ensure clients receive timely and appropriate support.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and monitoring service waiting lists.
- Conducting risk assessments and safety planning.
- Providing emotional support using a trauma-informed, non-judgemental approach.
- Responding to escalating risk and safeguarding concerns.
- Processing new referrals and maintaining case records.
- Supporting clients to access specialist services and community resources.
- Working collaboratively with external agencies and professionals.
- Maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
Essential Criteria- Significant experience working with vulnerable people.
- Experience working within a multi-agency environment.
- Experience using databases or case management systems.
- Experience supporting survivors of domestic abuse.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
- Understanding of the impact of domestic abuse, mental health and substance misuse.
- Ability to build supportive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Strong communication and active listening skills.
- The ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- IDVA qualification.
- Experience developing innovative ways to engage vulnerable people.
- Access to a vehicle and ability to travel for work purposes.
