Role: Trustee
Salary: Voluntary, unpaid role
Location: Huddersfield
Hours: Voluntary commitment

About the role

This is an opportunity to join Huddersfield Mission at an important point in its development. Following the departure of several long-standing Board members, the charity is looking to refresh and diversify its governance and welcome people who can bring new ideas, challenge and experience.

As a Trustee, you will help turn the Mission’s vision of ‘Serving People, Changing Lives’ into action, supporting an organisation working with people facing homelessness, poverty, mental health challenges and other complex needs.

  • Provide constructive challenge, insight and good governance.
  • Support plans to develop more sustainable income through fundraising, the community café and venue hire.
  • Help strengthen partnerships and connections across Huddersfield.
  • Contribute to areas such as Finance, HR or Marketing and Communications, depending on your experience and interests.
  • Help the charity explore opportunities to tackle the underlying causes of disadvantage, including housing, health, wellbeing and specialist advice.

About you

You do not need previous Trustee experience to make a valuable contribution.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people with lived or professional experience of homelessness, mental health, poverty or addiction, as well as those with expertise in:

  • Advice, information and guidance
  • Communications and marketing
  • Income generation and fundraising
  • Business
  • Housing

Most importantly, you will care about the Mission’s purpose and be willing to contribute your experience and perspective to help it make the greatest possible difference.

Trustees do not need to be Methodist. Applications are welcomed from people of all backgrounds, faiths or none, provided they are supportive of the charity’s objectives.

To apply for this post: - Please send your CV and covering letter to paul.bridges@huddersfieldmission.org.uk. We will respond to all applications sent in.
