Domestic Abuse Support Worker
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Domestic Abuse Support Worker to provide high quality, trauma informed support to women affected by domestic abuse across community and refuge services.
Position: Domestic Abuse Support Worker
Salary: £26,000 to £28,000 per annum
Location: King's Lynn with travel across West Norfolk
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with some out of hours on call requirements
Contract: Permanent
About the Role
This is an opportunity to join a specialist domestic abuse service supporting women aged 16 and over who have experienced current or historic domestic abuse.
Working across both outreach and safe accommodation services, you will provide confidential, person centred support using a strengths based and trauma informed approach. You will work alongside women to improve their safety, wellbeing and independence, ensuring they receive practical and emotional support tailored to their individual needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing one to one support using support plans and risk assessments
- Supporting clients to manage risk and access appropriate services
- Delivering practical and emotional support
- Working closely with partner agencies to provide joined up support
- Managing referrals, risk assessments and safeguarding responsibilities
- Maintaining accurate and confidential client records
- Managing your own caseload and following lone working procedures
- Building positive relationships with clients, colleagues and external stakeholders
- Participating in supervision, training and ongoing professional development
About You
You will have experience supporting vulnerable adults, ideally within domestic abuse or a related field, and be committed to empowering women to achieve positive outcomes.
You will have:
- At least two years' relevant paid experience
- A good understanding of domestic abuse and risk management
- Knowledge of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
