Family Case Worker
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Family Case Worker to provide vital support to children, young people and families living in refuge following domestic abuse.
Position: Family Case Worker
Salary: £26,000 to £28,000 per annum
Location: Broadland, Norfolk
Hours: Part –time 3 days per week
Contract: Permanent
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist domestic abuse service supporting children, young people and their parent who require emergency refuge accommodation.
Working as part of a dedicated refuge team, you will provide confidential, trauma informed support that helps families rebuild their lives, improve their wellbeing and move towards a safer future.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing one to one support to children and young people aged 5 to 18 living in refuge
- Assessing needs and promoting the safety and wellbeing of families
- Supporting parents to understand and respond to their child's experiences
- Delivering emotional and practical support to families
- Running Stay and Play sessions and other group activities
- Developing strong partnerships with external agencies
- Undertaking safeguarding responsibilities and risk assessments
- Providing move on support for families leaving refuge
- Maintaining accurate and confidential client records
- Helping with the day to day running of the refuge and participating in the on call rota
About You
You will be passionate about supporting children, young people and families who have experienced domestic abuse. You will be empathetic, resilient and able to build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
You will have:
- A relevant Children and Young People qualification at NVQ Level 3 or be willing to work towards one
- At least two years' experience supporting vulnerable children, young people and families
- Knowledge of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
- Experience of planning and delivering activities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience using Office 365 or similar administrative systems
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
This role is restricted to women under Schedule 9 (Part 1) of the Equality Act 2010 due to the nature of the service provided.
