Salary: £32,000 to £35,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience
Location: Bristol, BS16

About the role
This is a new role for someone who enjoys the variety of HR and wants to take ownership of payroll. Reporting to the Head of Resources, you’ll be the main point of contact for HR and payroll across both charities, supporting managers and staff from recruitment and onboarding through to changes in pay and employment terms.
You’ll also help introduce a shared HR and payroll system, with the opportunity to shape how both charities manage their processes from the outset.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating recruitment and onboarding, from advertising vacancies and arranging interviews to issuing contracts and completing pre-employment checks.
- Maintaining accurate employee records, administering contract changes and helping managers and staff with day-to-day HR queries.
- Running monthly payroll, checking and reconciling calculations, and making sure staff are paid accurately and on time.
- Managing HMRC submissions, payroll year-end tasks, pension auto-enrolment and statutory payments.
- Supporting the Head of Resources with the new system rollout, including data migration, parallel payroll testing and training for managers and staff.
About you
You’ll bring at least two years’ experience running payroll and supporting HR. You’ll be confident using payroll and HR software and have good Excel skills.
You’ll have a keen eye for detail, handle sensitive information with discretion and be able to balance fixed payroll deadlines with changing HR priorities. You’ll work well with colleagues across both charities and deal with staff queries fairly and respectfully.
An HR or payroll qualification and bookkeeping skills would be an advantage.
